Fishing in Spain

Fishing guide for your holiday

Essential information for your destination: licences, minimum sizes, catch rules and answers to your questions.

Before fishing: download PescaREC

Download the free official app and set up your registration for mandatory catch reporting.

Android · Google Play iPhone · App Store

An authorised representative can also submit reports. Some fisheries require the app to be available on site.

Update 23 October 2026 · Customer experiences
Customer experiences suggest that a newly issued fishing licence may take one to three days before it can be registered in PescaREC. This may be due to a delay in synchronising licence data between the relevant authorities and the app. If you receive an error immediately after receiving your licence, wait a few days and try registering again. This waiting time is based on customer experience and is not a guaranteed timeframe.
